According to a report in the Cincinnati Business Courier, Procter & Gamble CEO David Taylor traveled to Turkey earlier this month to announce a $67 million investment in new technology at a manufacturing plant. P&G is increasing production of Pampers diapers and Always feminine protection products at its factory in Gebze, Turkey. The brands are known as Prima diapers and Orkid feminine care in the country. P&G’s general manager for Turkey and Caucasus, Tankut Turnaoğlu, says the plan will begin manufacturing the Prima Premium Care line of diapers in April. The company is also launching the Orkid Platinum line with micro-cushion technology in Turkey. Taylor was present as P&G celebrated the 30th anniversary of the company’s launch of operations in Turkey. “In Turkey and around the globe, we seek to improve life for consumers through innovation that creates values, and our recent investments in Gebze will enable us to serve even more consumers in the region,” Taylor commented. “We’re committed to continue to serve Turkish consumers and play an active role in Turkey’s growth. We’re excited that our brands are a small but meaningful part of their lives.” P&G says about 2 million babies in Turkey use Prima diapers annually, and Orkid is used by 8 million women. The company exports some of the goods produced in Turkey to more than 10 countries in Central Asia, the Middle East and the Balkans, P&G says.
